GUBC narrowly miss qualification at Henley Women’s Regatta
HENLEY-ON-THAMES – After a tumultuous season, two doubles from GUBC hit the water at Henley Women’s Regatta. Racing in the Rosie Mayglothing Trophy, one of the most popular events in the regatta they both unfortunately missed out on side-by-side racing. They put up a strong performance with the ‘A’ crew made up of Kirsty MacArthur and Skye Arnott being just one second away from qualifying.
July. This was a special race for our member, Emma Lister, who joined the club in 2019, due to set backs with weather and covid-19, this was her first race! She had this to say, “I started rowing in September 2019 and thanks to storms and COVID-19, my racing experience finally started last week at Henley Women’s Regatta! Training has mainly consisted of hard ergs in my flat on Zoom. But from March, I enjoyed improving my skills in a single and on the 5th of June, we were finally allowed in crews where I doubled with Emily. With just over 3 weeks training together, 1 chest infection, 2 research submissions and 2 exams
between us, we hit the Thames!”.
