Laura wins Home International Gold as GUBC well represented in Team Scotland
Seven GUBC athletes earn Scotland vests at London Docklands event
LONDON – In the shadow of London City Airport, the Home International Rowing Regatta took place, with Glasgow University Boat Club having seven representatives suit up for Team Scotland.
Laura McKenzie, the only GUBC member on the Sculling team raced in the double with Anna Buchanan of Edinburgh University, placing second before winning in the quadruple sculls joined by Lily Young and Perri McCluskey.
In the Women’s Sweep team, Maia Hely and Niamh Sheridan raced together in both the coxed four and the eight, finishing second and third respectively.
On the men’s side, GUBC had four representatives, Ethan Matthews and Xander Beeson raced in the coxed four and Lachlan MacKinnon was in the coxless four before they joined together in the eight, while Josh Thompson raced in the pair.
Development Coach Aaron Nicholson was also part of Team Scotland, acting as a coach.
